Why Kansa?

Kansa is a traditional Ayurvedic metal known for its balancing and rejuvenating properties. Made from a blend of copper and tin, Kansa is believed to help balance the skin’s pH, support lymphatic drainage, and encourage healthy circulation. Regular use can help soften facial tension, reduce puffiness and promote a naturally radiant glow.

Handcrafted by artisans in South India with precision and care, this elegant beauty tool is your secret to sustaining a naturally radiant complexion throughout the fullness of life while also promoting a sense of deep relaxation.

The Kansa Gua Sha brings the time-honoured benefits of the Chinese Tradition of Gua Sha together with Ayurveda's star beautifying metal with its cooling, regulating energetics. Designed to glide along the contours of the face and neck, it works more directly with the fascia and underlying tissues, helping to release held tension and stagnation while encouraging sculpting and definition.

Through slow, intentional strokes, kansa gua sha supports:

  • Myofascial release in areas of chronic tension (jaw, brow, neck)
  • Improved circulation and lymphatic flow
  • Reduced puffiness and fluid retention
  • Enhanced tone, contour and definition over time

With sharper edges than your classic crystal Gua Shas, Kansa offers a more targeted approach to sculpting, making it well-suited for regular use to see profound results. Its cooling quality helps calm excess heat and reactivity while still delivering visible lifting and smoothing effects.

Best For:

  • Gua sha rituals focused on sculpting and definition
  • Releasing facial, jaw and neck tension
  • Supporting lymphatic drainage and reducing puffiness
  • Cooling reactive or overheated skin
  • Encouraging a clear, balanced and radiant complexion

If you’re deciding which Kansa product is right for you, the Kansa Gua Sha is an ideal choice if you’re drawn to a practice that combines visible sculpting results and inflammation reduction, offering both immediate release and long-term skin vitality through consistent ritual. For a more energetic focus combined with lymphatic drainage and depuffing, try our Kansa wand.

Who's it for?

Kansa is for anyone who feels overstimulated, tense or depleted, or for those who feel they've lost touch with their inner radiance. Our skin communicates with us all the time, and if yours is feeling hot & inflamed or seems to have lost its shine, Kansa might be the supportive medicine you need to reignite the luminosity that already lies within you.

On a more subtle level; if you experience mental overactivity, nervous system fatigue, emotional heaviness or a sense of holding stress in your body, particularly in the face, jaw, shoulders, or feet, the emotional regulation of this metal will serve you well as you find your sense of groundedness and vitality again.

This practice is well-suited for those who are craving a slower, more grounding form of self-care that restores balance and feels effortless rather than adding another item to the to-do list.

If you’re longing to soften, slow down, and reconnect with a steadier, more embodied sense of yourself as you move through daily life, Kansa’s cooling and regulating qualities help release excess heat and tension, supporting a calmer nervous system and greater sense of lustre and brilliance.

Energetics

Thermal Nature:
Cooling, with a neutralising effect on excess heat.

Qualities (Gunas):
Light, smooth, subtly scraping, grounding.

Dosha Affinity:

Pacifies Pitta by drawing out heat, inflammation and acidity.

Stabilises Vata by soothing the nervous system.

Supports Kapha balance by preventing stagnation.

Interaction with the Skin and Tissues:
Through its cooling and slightly alkaline nature, kansa interacts with the mildly acidic skin surface. This supports the release of excess pitta from rasa and rakta dhatus, encouraging a balanced tone in both the skin and underlying tissues.

Subtle and Marma-Level Effects:
When used on marma points, kansa acts as an energetic conductor to gently clear blocked pathways, harmonise the subtle body and support integration between physical sensation and emotional awareness.

How to Use

Apply facial oil to cleansed skin so the tool can glide without dragging.

Open the lymphatic system with gentle pumping or sweeping strokes along the sides of the neck and at the collarbones, followed by light strokes underneath the arms. Begin at the neck, working upward and outward as you move onto the face.

Along the cheeks, use longer upward and outward strokes from the nose toward the ears, following the natural contours of the face. For added release, pause or gently rock the tool over areas of tension.

Working one side of the face at a time, hold the gua sha tool at a low angle against the skin. Glide outward from the centre of the forehead toward the temples using gentle but firm pressure.

Move to the brow line and eye area using slow, controlled strokes, gliding from the inner corners outward along the orbital bone. Use smaller, delicate movements here, adjusting pressure as needed.

Finish by sculpting the jawline with long, sweeping strokes upward and outward, always guiding fluid toward the ears and down toward the collarbones to support lymphatic drainage.

    Cooling and Grounding

The Kansa Gua Sha has been amazing! It has helped to reduce tension in my face, make me feel calmer and more grounded, and feels really nice as a facial massager. It has helped with lymphatic drainage and overstimulation. I usually use it before bed or when I’m feeling stressed. Highly recommend!

Common Questions

Is kansa safe for acne and inflamed skin?

Kansa is generally well tolerated by acne-prone and inflamed skin due to its cooling and balancing qualities, which help draw excess heat and acidity away from the tissues. When used gently and with a suitable oil, Kansa can support calmer skin, reduced redness and improved circulation over time.

That said, Kansa should not be used over open lesions, active cysts, or broken skin, and pressure should always be light. If your skin is highly reactive or in an active flare, we recommend waiting until inflammation has settled before beginning regular practice.
